Party Wall Act Camden

The Party Wall Act of 1996 gives Camden property owners a strict set of obligations to work through when modifying walls shared by adjoining properties.

This process helps protect all Camden property owners, who have a stake in the shared wall, as building work goes ahead.

If you are planning a cosmetic improvement to your Camden property that involves a party wall it probably won’t be covered by the Party Wall Act.  Examples of this might be something minor and relatively superficial such as putting up shelves, replastering a party wall or inserting additional plug sockets. In these instances, it is your right to get on with the job.

If however the work to your Camden home involves cutting into the shared wall, rebuilding it, modifying it, or excavating close to a shared boundary, then you will need to adhere to the requirements laid out by the Party Wall Act.

The Party Wall Act applies to Camden’s domestic, commercial and listed properties as well as to internal and external shared walls.

Experienced Party Wall Surveyors Jordan Brettell would be happy to guide you through the obligations that the Party Wall Act places on Camden property owners.  Get in touch today on 07815 051255.
